The Remains of the Day
Greatest quote in the past four weeks, from my rather austere magical realism professor: "I don't believe in kidding."Maybe you have to know him.
Oh happy day, despite the fact I have another term paper to crank out (I've spent way too many hours in the library this week): Jake Gyllenhaal is single once again -- be still my palpitating heart!

This Just In:
So none of you really believed that I wouldn't find a way to update my little website, right? I know that there is a small number who have remained faithful to checking everyday -- and for you, I'm writing from a stained-glass-window-paned 14th century library containing one quarter of the world's illuminated manuscript collection.Things are fabulous here, aside from the lack of a Californian summer. Cambridge is an amazing city, much larger than I had thought. In fact, a lot of things about life in general are much larger than I thought. I have been writing a lot, mostly to myself, on my ibook; I feel like quite the little crazy writer in my attic room above a former plague pit. I'll have my head in an oven soon enough, don't you fret.
Postcard style: it rains a terrible amount, I've never had so many bugs fly into my face, British boys don't impress me much, I'm getting used to being served from a silver platter weekly, & I've watched an abundance of films (so far: Supersize Me, Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban [again], Coffee & Cigarettes, & Spiderman 2) & read quite a few books (One Hundred Years of Solitude, Midnight's Children, & The Remains of the Day) while here. There is a ton of work to do, finals week is upon me once again; I adore the professors here more than I had ever adored any professors that I've had in the past two years of university level academia. That definitely surprised me.
There's so much more to say, but I'm growing quietly tactful about opening my stupid mouth all the time. There will be a fabulous photojournal to document my adventures when I get back in over a month. I hope your summers are equally fabulous. Cheers!
