VTB Capital?Investment Management is hiring globally for its investor relations team as well as product specialists as the company seeks to expand its presence and product offering outside Russia and become a broader emerging markets asset manager.
The firm's assets under management were more than $4.5bn at the end of the first quarter of this year. It has grown quickly, posting a 282% increase of assets under management since 2011. It was founded in 2008.
"First we will go with the products that we know we are historically strong in and have found a good investment base for, both internationally and in Russia - fixed income and equities," said?Vladimir Potapov, CEO of the business. "Then we will work on expanding our product range across the new regions."
Potapov said?VTB Capital?Investment Management had already hired for investor management and investor relations in London and Dubai but was planning to further strengthen that team abroad with a hire for New York and for Asia.
"We're also working on adding product specialists," said?Potapov. "We already have some international experts in our private equity team. We are looking to add more international expertise into our liquid business quite soon. Eventually we will also add venture capital experts as well but probably not this year."
Potapov said that the firm's expansion is in line with?VTB Capital's own sprawling international expansion over the last two years, with the bank having set up offices in Dubai, Singapore, Bulgaria and New York, among other locations.
"Our plan is to leverage the existing?VTB Capital?presence globally," said?Potapov. "VTB Capital's existing presence in certain regions will help us to grow our own presence. It helps that we're not just coming from scratch. The bank already has people with experience and knowledge on the ground."
VTB Capital?Investment Management offers five main investment options: open-end investment funds, closed-end funds, managed accounts for high net worth individuals, investment solutions for Russian pension funds, endowment funds, insurance companies and corporations, as well as an international platform for accredited international investors.
