Pin-up Birthday
 Birthday, 36x24", oil on canvas
I've been working on this piece for the past five weeks - it's the largest painting I've done in recent memory and was inspired by mid-century pin-up art of Alberto Vargas & Gil Elvgren. It's for my painting class, where our final was to do whatever we wanted.
Looking at it now, there are a million things I would have done differently, but it was a great learning experience. For one, I didn't start out with it intending to look like one of my girls, but since I was working loosely from a reference (mostly for gesture), it did. I hate how being a jpg has killed its color, but you get the rough idea. It was fun, I'm glad to be done and move on, and I'm thinking of doing another one or two during the break. On a much smaller scale of course.Labels: art school confidential
